Vibration everytime i go through surface water

Right, didnt do this the other week when it was pouring down.

Had some really bad rain, esp on the motorways, en-route to bolton abbey this going through some surface water i got this vibration, feels like the centre of the car. not a clue what it is

Only does it when i go through surface water. Its a horrid noise.

Any ideas? its going on the ramps.

will the ramps be in surface water ? . . .

    Is it metallic rattle?

Standing/surface water used to make my exhaust knock on my VTS.

Somethng like that! Its been great for weeks and had clearence so no idea how that water has afected it or altered it.

At first i thought the water bashed off a heat shield and it was vibrating off the exhaust but soon as i came out of the water in a lets say normal patch it was fine again.

Its not the actual water hitting the arches, its far more agressive then that.

Il check the exhaust and heat shields tommorow.

Will just be the water hitting things, or making you aquaplane.

Yeah that used to happen all the time when there was water on the road.

Check how much play you get from the middle exhaust mount, I swapped that out for a stiffer one and had no more rattles.

If it's the noise I'm thinking of its like a proper hefty rattle along the tunnel through the middle of the car.

yeah thats what it felt like, really nasty.

Thing is until today it never bothered it.

cheers man. Will look and mostly likely order a stiffer mount tommorow.

No worries, like I say, check that mount first.

It was the exhaust hanger smacking on the heat shield on mine.

could have loosened any exhaust mount...mine all come loose every now and again (all standard exhaust parts)...not a wheel bearing?

Rapid cooling of the metal. When I first bought my car it had a shitty kwikfit exhaust on which did this very thing when going through water.

Really? My exhaust after the cat is a supersprint so not a cheap pipe. Didnt know a exhaust would vibrate like that just getting a spash of water at it.

Not heard of that one before.

    Cheers

It's probably the heat shield then mate. Either way that exhaust needs readjusting.

Ive checked all the heat shields. all solid, exhaust doesnt knock off anything.
