#2There will be some decent gear boxes in the for sale section on here far cheaper than £400, my mate was selling a decent box out of a furio, which has very similar ratios for £40 but don't know if he still has it
-
#3how hard is it to fit myself, never messed with gearbox's before but its gonna save me alot if i can do it myself
-
#4found a box through ukengines.com for £210, 18 month warranty off a 51k vts...this sound about right, thats delivered to my door, guessing about £100 for someone to fit it...gonna get a quote from a guy my missus knows who does her car's first. Tempted to do it myself but will take longer and it wont stop raining :@

#52nd hand gearboxes are not worth a penny unless the seller can prove its fully working before breaking the car, I would go for a refurbished one. Its not that bad to do a gearbox yourself plus theres a few guides on here on how to do it.

#6dont attempt a box swap on your own, you will almost certainly need help lifting the box back onto the car
-
#8if you can get the car high enough. i didnt have any way of getting the car high enough to get under the car with the gearbox on top ready to lift up, i needed someone to reach through the bay to lift it up to slide underneath

#10Second hand boxes commonly sell for:
VTS £100
VTR £70-£100
Any minor models £50-£70
1.4 XSI, Rallye etc you pay a very small premium. -
#11u can get decent 2nd hand ones all over net mate ebay is a winner

#12You just need to have your weetabix, these little boxes don't weigh much stop being girls and man up! A 406 V6 box is heavy when your on your Todd lol!
