Engine 'random' misfire problem (WITH VIDEO!)

  1. #1
This morning the car started as normal, drove down the street as normal, but then all of a sudden.. BOOM!
I heard a loud noise from the engine and now sounds just like a tractor, if not worse! (see video for this)

It seemed to have lost abit of power aswell, allthough i didn't want to put my foot down and wake everyone up

It still drives, i managed to drive it back to my house but the engine management light is on.

I plugged in a code reader and i got the code :

    P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

Also, it smells slightly of petrol (worse than normal)
    It's a MK2 VTR

Anyone had the same/ simular problem? or any ideas?
    much apreciated!

Here's a video of what it sounds like!

One of your spark plugs has come out.

Mine did it on my 8v.. was number 3 - and it took all the thread's with it.

Meaning I had to get a mechanic to helicoil repair the thread - was fine for 20k+ then removed engine.

Yeah - exactly the same mate.

When you take your coilpack off - the one that's loose will just come out with the coilpack

I risked putting it back in to try my luck - next day it popped out again, so you will most likely need to get it helicoiled - cost me £30, mechanic came to my house.

Most motor factors sell heli coil kits that are easy enough to use if you want to do it yourself
