Number plate light

  1. #1
    Hi,

This may be a silly question, but one of my licence plate lights (left) has gone out, but the right is still working. I was wondering if it is illegal to drive at night with just one of the lights working?

    Many thanks for any replies

Not illegal if the one you have is powerful enough to make the plate visible to the car behind you but probably an MOT advisory.

They're easy to change, if you open the boot you can prise/pop the whole light unit out of the boot, when its hanging out the hole from the outside, you can pry off the cover and change the bulb. might as well fit some LEDs while you're at it and probs never have to change them again, should only cost you £3.

Thanks for the reply Steve. I will have a go then, good idea about the LED's too.

    Thanks

These are what you've need, Ive bought those a few times for various things on the Sax,

Also, so you know the plastic lense/cover youll have to pry off at the end to get the bulb can break very very easily, but you can pick one up or order one in from a citroen/peugeot dealership for about £3 too. My local happened to have one on the shelf

They look very smart, thanks for that, may have to invest in some! I will also bear in mind that the plastic cover is delicate.

not sure if illegal but they are an m.o.t failure so i'd take that as being illegal. not too hard to change and are onlt 501 capless bulbs
