tickover probs

   my lads 1.1 saxo is booked in for its MOT on thursday and today the idle has gone from 1000rpm to 2000rpm at intervals of a few seconds and sometimes stays a 2000rpm for a few seconds,any ideas what might be causing it?

   could be the idle control valve

   Clean the ICV out using the guide on here mate.

   just cleaned it but its still the same

   changed idle control valve with secondhand unit....result...cheers for the info.gazza
