I checked my gearbox and don't know if im being stupid, but there doesnt look to be anything that the downpipe can attach to. the closest bolt to it was one that was in the gearbox, but it looked like it was holding the gearbox to the engine, or vice versa. is this the bolt that you put the downpipe in? As there's an unhealthy rattle coming from that area when i accelerate now, i put a new downpipe on yesterday, and it rattles quite loudly, and is very close to the drive shaft.
i hammered down the mounting on the downpipe, or it wouldnt of fitted?
