Radio fitting Queries ( Size is everything)

    Hello group, I've just MOT'd my R registered 1.1L saxo, giving it another 12 months of life, I was really tempted to scrap the car, sacrilege I know, but its currently got 104k on the clock and was quoted £350 to fix up. I couldn't let the car go, as its been great for commuting the 32 mile round trip. Anyway, to bring the car up to the digital age I would really like to change the original cassette unit for a modern CD player. What I want to know is, will any regular radio unit fit the car, as I seem to remember a friend of mine a few years ago having trouble fitting a new radio unit as it was too deep to fit the recess on the saxo dash and was clashing with a bolt on the rear of the recess?
    Any advice appreciated

    any single din stereo will be fine, i have a sony dvd unit in my saxo with alot more wiring at the back, lets say three times the amount of a standard stereo unit and lets just say its a tight fit but does go in.

    Standard size single din should be fine.
