Anyways, here lies the problem, i bought a vtr at the beginning of the week, its lowered but the guy didnt know how much! So got it home, had an inspection only to find under the drivers side arch there appears to be rubbing (see pic) whould it be rubbing on vts wheels?? Also found out the bloomin driveshafts where gone Bad times

looking at the back and relating to mine...id say 70mm down at back? compare on my progress it looks similar
  3. #3
Very similar, any ideas on the rubbing?
  4. #4
not really...unless its had a hard life of being driven insanely...mine doesnt rub at all...even with people in back...they 45 profile tyres ect ect? no spacers?
  5. #5
Yea 45's no spacers! Im stumped! Took it to a garage and the guy was like "Its too low and wheels too big" He was an old skool mechanic so i didnt pay much attention since a hell of alot of other people have it lower on same size with out modifying arches

cant understand that one...its even rubbing past the mud guards isnt it...are they cambered in at all? i dont want to sound mr bad news or anything
  7. #7
    are the shocks alright?
  8. #8
I have no idea what so ever. The camber looks fine from what i can see. Just replacing the driveshafts at the moment, i think i may do the whole suspension again, so that i know its 100% perfect! Can never tell whats happened in the past

195/45 is the correct profile aint it??
  10. #10
could you not consider getting your arches rolled? or would that be useless?
  11. #11
rolling arches wont help, they wont be anywhere near them, its the inside its rubbing on simply because its stupid low.
  12. #12
looks about 70 or 80 at the back
if its on springs and dampers on the front, it wont be more than 60mm
my car used to rub slightly on full lock when it reached 75mm on the front
from then i just avoided full lock

now at 90mm on the front, the turning circle is even worse lol steer too much and it rubs the inner and outer so i try and drive in straight lines

nothing you can really do about it, apart from,
    - avoid full lock,
    - or get smaller wheels (which wont look as good as vts wheels)
    - or raise it
    - or possibly spacers?

Think we have found the problem. Without jacking it up etc we reckon the n/s suspension arm has taken a hit and moved the whole steering off. Only rubs o/s and plenty space n/s on full lock! So new suspension arm ordered.

Was a female driver previously and the n/s alloy is rather buggered! Think she has kerbed it at speed or hit summit very large. Also when the car is in a straight line the steering wheel is pointing to the left, and pulls to the right!
  15. #15
you sure the trackings not just out in that case?
  16. #16
Still wouldn't explain why the n/s dont rub, can fit my hand behind the wheel on full lock and on o/s you couldn't fit a piece of paper behind the wheel ha!
  17. #17
its turning one way, more than the other
if it was me id make sure the tracking isnt completely out to the right direction
its free usually to check so you might aswell

Yea ill give it a look! Need to do the driveshafts first! Thanks for the advice though bud
