Important! : 16v - cutouts / misfires

  1. #1
    Hope someone can help...

16v engine is cutting out and misfiring between idle and 3k revs, also randomly will cutout if revs arent kept up..

however if i start the car up it will idle correct so i dont think its the icv.

Tried a mates perfectly working coilpack and didnt stop the issues, however did notice Stark 4 was covered in oil...

    any advise?

Can I add mine in too,

Mine mIsfires during driving occasionally, like sudden power loss then go back to normal. Happened since i fitted new manifold. Lambda is pretty much against the manifold , but unsure about coilpack, Also drops down to 500 revs rarely then vrrms back to normal

    Map sensor,
    Temperature sensor,
    Lambda sensor normally

This sounds exactly like a problem I had fellas.

Unbolt the Map sensor from your inlet manifold and clean it. I sprayed WD40 inside it and used a cotton bud to clean the muck out. It's made an amazing difference.

Mine used to mis-fire badly, and was terrible to drive around at part throttle, with hesistation etc, even though it drove ok under full throttle.

Takes 5 mins to do, made such a difference!

i was just about to ask this question too, mines been running like a bag of spuds only when warm, ICV seems ok as during cold start everythings fine, onces the engines warm it pisses and farts all over idle, and at part throttle occasionally it will hesitate for a few seconds even when you open it to full throttle then takes off, its almost as if you lose 2 cylinders briefly as the whole car jerks forward, i checked the coil ignition pack and both seem ok though i will replace this when i get paid!

i also ran the car with and without the MAP sensor and idle was massively different however it still sounds as if it creates a random misfire at idle! will look at the plugs later this week and do a comp test,

It seems though since putting on a new Pro-tech 4-2-1 and simota intake the problem is more noticeable
