Front brakes rubbing

  1. #1
    Hi guys
When I took my car for its mot. The station said my compensator valve was sticking and they freed it for me. Anyway since then my handbrake leaver travel is 7 clicks and my front brakes are rubbing on the disk when I jack the car up and spin the wheel. Also there is a drone noise when I drive. It's not the bearings these are fine (no play)
Is the compensator valve my problem or is it something else. I've got loads of meat left on the front pads.

    Any help is appreciated.

Do you have aftermarket alloys fitted?

Got standard alloys. But my compensator valve was seized so freed it off but no joy the dam sound is still there. Next week I'm going to jack up each wheel to see if I've got a bearing on its way out as this droning noise I've got while driving is getting on my tits now. I thought it might of been the pads rubbing but after doing the compensator all is well with my brakes

I've done a video on how I freed the compensator valve. Which thread should I put it ?

Put the video in the queries section & ask a mod to sticky it.

I'll try to make like a guide as well with the experience I got.

Many thanks for your replies I appreciate it.

Would rubbing brakes make a droning noise or would they just get really hot? Only ask as I've had the same issue.

Will do - my bet's on it being rear wheel bearing. Hoping to swap over the hub from my old axle onto this one in the hope it cures it.

I need to check all my bearings next week when I'm off. I'm starting to think its bearings. I just find it hard to think that it could be the bearings on my vtr as its only done 59k
Does anyone know if there is ment to be a little play. If so how much

Mines only done a little more than that and the axle has already had to be replaced. The car my new axle came off had only done 40-something-thousand and it potentially needs a new rear wheel bearing. They can go at any time unfortunately
