fuel pump

   can any one give me a hand, saxo wont start sometimes, an other times it does an when it runs it will cut out under hard aceltrating, wen the car is switched of and i pull the fuel return pipe of i can here the pump runing wen i turn the ignition on but its like its not pumping fuel threw and if i turn the ignition of and on a few times it will avetualy prime and pump the fuel, it must be the pump it self or is ther anything else that could cos this? thanks,

   also if i am going along the road some times it just cuts out dead and i have to keep free wheeling turning the ignition on and of to get it to run again

   i put a positive wire directly on to the pump just and a hose of the outlet to a fuel can and the fuel is pumping but not very fast and other and then wen i take the wire on and of a few time it will all of a suden pump the fuel out fast?

   is the pump ment to be a constant presure? any 1 help please
