Tapping engine

   Usually when I first start my car and drive it has a slight tapping noise that goes one engine is warm... Guessing it's the tappets but when I give it fresh oil its quiet for a few weeks until the oil has been used about 1000 miles later, why is this?

   I had the same problem, and i just left it thinking it was nothing too serious. A few week later, a spark plug decided to pop out, bringing all the thread with it
   
   So check your spark plugs, coil pack.. ETC

   No not at all that bad lol it's done it ever since I had the car and taps faster as the rpm goes up but doesn't do it after its got fresh oil.

   mine's slightly tappety all the time but is more obvious when cold. wouldnt worry unless it gets dead loud mines been run a few thousand miles with tappety noise and nothing has gone wrong apart from an immobiliser issue
