Alternator Problem

   So my VTR won't start, it's not turning over.
   Put in a friends battery from a 306 and it still isn't working.
   
   I'm told it's not putting out enough volts which is the issue, but I don't know the serial number for the alternator without taking it back out - does anybody know the part number?

   if the battery you put in from the 306 is healthy, the car should still start even if the alternator is faulty...
   With the 306 battery in, was there any signs of life at all? Did the wipers, radio etc... work?

   It drove for a couple of hours and then died, should've clarified. Sorry.
   
   Now, the general electrics work - albeit dimly - but when I try to turn the ignition on the electrics all die and I have to turn it back off and on to get the hazards etc. working.

   I see, sounds like it could be that alternator then mate,
   
   Sorry I dont know the code though, unless its the same as the mk2?
