wiring fault

   hey all just brought my 1st vtr and i when i press my brake the side lights come on but at night when my light are on my dash lights only work when i press the brake this is on a phase 2 on a v reg could anybody give me some ideas on were to start looking please

   Its a bad earth check & clean the bulb holders on the rear lights.

   Does it or has it had a towbar fitted? A wire will be bridging against the body, happened to mates corsa run about, he could pull key out of ignition and it would still run till brake pedal was released. His side lights also came on when he braked!
   
   Turned out to be electrics for tow bar were chopped through (Tow bar ball removed) and were left to bridge against the body.

   Is it the correct bulb because brake lights have the to brightnesses. But look at earthing to

   ive cleaned the earth for the back lights but know the drivers brake light dont work (but the bulb is good) no dash lights at all plus sidelights have stopped working. Boyes it dont have a towbar dude and by looking at the wiring its not had one in the past

   all bulbs are correct the driver brake bulb was wrong so changed it straight away

   have u not tryed getiing a rear light insert from the scrapy for a few quid worth a try have u check the fuses
   ... passenger fuse box..
   F7 15A stop and reversing lights
   also that bulb that dosnt work unscrew it and just check that the termanls are ok and that the bulb touchs the termanals

    right all sorted someone had put a 5 amp fuse in it and it must of kept blowing thanks everyone for the help
