    Been looking into this myself.
16s with 185/45 tyres is what i'm looking for right now. Mind you thats on a desire.
The arches are wider on VTR VTS aren't they? If so i'd go slightly wider with 16s 195/45.

    wrong/right? Someone educate me!!

are u in a 1.1 at the minute smithy??

    if u get 16s u want them with 40 profile ie 195/40/16

if u go for 15s gor for 45 profile, there supppose to be the nearest to the same diameter as standard i think!

    Yeah i'm only in a 1.1.
Second car, 1 yrs no claims so insurance was quite high on a VTR. Went for 1.1 instead. I'm sure i would have done something daft with a larger engine by now tho so i'm happyish (Can only find Cliche bodykit and Cituning site isn't fully up and the downloadable catalogue keeps crashing me. PC probs too)

    Sorry, back to topic,
I'll take another look at my working out then, don't want to be wrong about it!
Do 195 fit in the arches of a Desire without protruding from the body of the car? If they do fit, do they rub or do i have to mod the arches?

I'm trying to keep my guarantee so grinding the arches is a no go as far as i know.

    Heres how it works out.
Current - 165/65/r14 Average height 50cm. Width is good.

With 15s - 195/50/r15 Average height is 43.75cm. Height fits and width too big. I don't want to mod the arches.

With 16s - 195/45/r16 Average height is 42.4cm. Height fits but again the width is too big.

195 rub without arch mods. 185 are good. Are 185/45/r16 available? The only 185s i seem to find are 185/60!!
