    Either battery or the voltage regulator in the alternator.

    Charge the battery fully then check the voltage before you go to bed, check it in the morning and see if its lost its charge. If it has its the battery, if it hasnt then most likely the alternator.

    Send the alternator off to get refurbed and it will be the voltage regulator, they will fit a new one and new bearings maybe.

    As said, it will be your alternator. Saxos in their wisdom use an electronic power steering pump - unlike a non french car which have a pump driven off the engine. The power steering takes a feed directly from the alternator so when that isn't working, your PAS wont be either.

    Youve got 4 options really;

    Cheapest - get yours reconditioned
    Cheaper - buy a second hand one
    Best idea - get a "new" Bosch reconditioned on exchange for yours
    Best piece of mind - buy a brand new one

    Ive got a second hand one for sale if your struggling and local.

    ahh haaaa as i moved one of the cables on the altenator it snaped off so i got the thick cable thats not connected and a smaller grounding wire???? hopefully if i just fix this wire it will be ok
