#2Yes it would.
-
#3well the problem i have is when i brake my sidelights?dash light comes on , could this be the problem ?
-
#4No. That will most likely be an earth problem, or other wiring.
Think of a relay like a light switch, except its turned on and off by electric, not your hand
-
#5totally lost with this now , i have checked my earth and it seems to be fine . Does any one have any suggestions ?
-
#6What comes on when you brake? The sidelights, sidelight warning light on the dash and the brake lights?
-
#7no when i brake my sidelights and my dashlights come on , and if i have my sidelights on and i pull up on the road and keep my cluch and brake down , i can take my key out of the ignition and my engine will still run and then when i knock my lights off it will cut my engine out .

#8Sounds like there is something going on with the ignition switch / indicator stalk. All behind the steering wheel so you need to have a good look at all that.
Did this just start or has someone tried to hotwire it or something?
Youve not been using high amp fuses in place of smaller ones have you? Melted wires can cause all sorts of problems

#9no i haven't done a thing , i noticed the other morning when i was driving to work that when i braked my dash lights come on , then yesterday i notied that my sidelights also come on . so is that the only thing it could be ?
-
#10Well im suggesting ignition barrel (switch) cos;
a) the engine definitely should turn off when you take the key out
b) there is a permanent live to the ignition switch - which is the only explanation to keep it running
Does it work normally if the lights are turned on?
Youd need to have a look whats what with something like this really

#11no if i pull up and keep the cluch and brake down and the lights are swiched off and i turn the key off it work's propply and cuts the engine out as normal but has soon has i knock my lights on and pull up keeping the cluch and brake down and then turn the key off my engine stil stays on untill i knock my sidelights off ?? confused.com

#12Your live wire for the sidelights will be shorting onto the ignition live somehow..
Unplug the connectors from your indicator stalk, try it then..
If its still dodgy, check wire VV03 (Beige).
Somehow its got a connection with AA01 (White). Or your ignition switch is knackered. -
#13please could u tell me how to do this ? ino a little about mechanic's but if i sort this problem my self it would save me ££ and would also be very much appreciated :-)

#14When I had this exact same problem it turned out to be the bulb holder for the high level rear brake light. There was a crack in the circuit board,as soon as I replaced it the problem stopped.

#15yes i had a brake light blow the other day , when i removed the light there were alot of water leaked in and i thort this could of been the route of the problem, but i completely disconnected my brake light i still had the same problem .
