steering rack mrk2 vtr

   power steering failed, took it to garage, need a new steering rack
   the rack itself i can get for bout 30 quid but it seems a complete ball ache to change.
   
   anyone done this or know somewhere in east mids that would be able to?

   'Mandyslover' has done them before off here.
   
   I personally wouldnt attempt it as it is a ball ache like you said. Inlet manifold off at the least, but I would prefer to take the engine out lol

   is mandyslover ilkeston autocare? cos i gave them a call and they wanted nothing to do with it..

   Most places will be like that. Its alot of effort for a simple job and will therefore charge alot which no one will pay. A day or half a day changing a rack could be spent on doing something more worthwhile to a garage.
   
   Phone around and you will probably get somewhere to do it that hasnt done it before and charge too little for the job. But because they quote you £80 orwhatever they have to stick to it.
