cooking brakes!

I've recently fitted tarox g88 discs and yellowstuff pads to the front of my vtr.
Having had standard discs and ferrodo premier pads before which I never had a problem with.

Same style of driving, but after 1.5k since fitted, im cooking the brakes in 10 miles of a quick blast.

Could a poor bleed be the cause? Because i was thinking the yellowstuff should come into their own with a bit of heat!

I take it you followed the guidelines for breaking in the pads...

what are your symptoms? long brake pedal travel? lack of stopping?

I bedded the pads in on the standard discs then fitted the tarox discs, expecting approximately 1000 miles to bed the discs in. Both with gentle driving.

There is a strong smell of cooking pads in the car and the pedal is going hard and the brakes are practically non-existent.

I did change the rear axle about 200 miles back and bled the rear brakes but didnt do the fronts, so am hoping that that is the cause!

    cheers

saxos work on a closed brake system so you will need to bleed in a sequence if i remember rightly you need to do front passangers, rear drivers, front drivers then rear passangers

Why didn`t you bed them in on the Tarox discs?(just seems logical)

right, so hopefully a proper bleed of all 4 will sort it out, or at least make them better!

Stevo, I bed the pads in first thinking that if I had new discs and new pads there would be relatively no brakes for that first few hundred miles.

You'll have plenty of braking if you throw on new discs and pads at the same time...

Its not really the best idea to bed new pads in on old discs either! Same way as old pads and new disc's isn't a great idea! Which is effectively what you've done there.

ahhh dear, I was thinking new pads + new discs at once would be a bad idea.
so that may have reduced the effectiveness of the pads?

Thanks for the help guys, wont be making the same mistakes again!
