Right I have a 2002 vtr 3 plug. Every now and again when idling the revs drop to 500 rpm the go upto 1000 rpm. Does not go it all the time. Mainly when up to temp and been idling for a while. I've change all sensors on inlet manifold, also changed inlet manifold gaskets, also changed lamda sensors. And have had the alternator check and it's fine. So finally I plugged it in at work but know fault codes or problems have came up. Any ideas ?

Possibly your coil pack is breaking down, which often shows itself when the car has warmed up.

    and the idle control valve???

I was thinking that but surely it would do it more often than just idling ? Changed icv.

Read above , changed icv. Erm I've changed 2 coolant temp sensors near the thermostat. Is there another one ?

You've changed everything, either the new ICV is faulty also or it has a bad connection, I say check that again and clean it

yeh give it a clean it could be your coil back best bet is to take it to a garage and get a diagnostics plugged in

Give your map sensor a clean. I had the same problem and found some bodged wiring to the MAP. Re-terminated them and it's been perfect since!

He's already plugged it in, an idle problem like he says won't bring any codes up.

It's not a bad thing, I'd leave it as you said it only does it every now and then...
