basically i brought a saxo vtr the other month.
it started about a month ago when i was driving home i hit road works on the motorway when slowing down there was a loud whine but stopped when i accelerated.

but now when driving there like a grinding sound when in first gear only. when i dip the clutch it goes.
my clutch pedal feels really heavy also my gears are stiff to get in.

is it all down the clutch ?

Sounds like a clutch related problem, Can you fit one yourself?

Could be both since you've been driving it for over a month with a known problem. That kinda thing makes repair jobs more expensive than it shoulda been.

Next time something makes a noise, look into it, before it gets worse. Not just for money reasons but your own safety.

I had exactly the same problem on my VTR, a strange whining sound when decelerating and then going away when applying the power. Turns out it was my drivers side driveshaft, the boot had slipped off and grease had been leaking everywhere, all over the disc and back of the wheel. Have a check behind the wheels to see if you can rule that out.
