VTS wont start when hot

Hi all. Posting this for a friend

His VTS will start fine in the morning when it's cold, but if he tries to start it warm it won't start

Now i remember he jet washed the engine bay last week, so alarm bells were ringing towards the coil pack as I remember reading some of you had done the same thing, but we got that off today and there was no sign of any water damage (would there be?)

My second thought was coolant temp sensor but when the car does run, the idle is very rough and the engine speed varies quite a lot, which takes us to the idle control valve?

Can they be cleaned up etc?

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Dan

A knackered coil pack shows these symptoms when the engine is hot mate.

Also just to add, a knackered coolant temp sensor can also give a dodgy idle, so you might be right in suspecting that also.

Twas the coolant temp sensor, runs fine unplugged!
