Important! : Clunking noise coming from rear on VTR

   I have a 03 vtr and theres a clunking noise, sounds like metal hitting metal whenever i go over a slight bump in the road
   
   I have had two garages look at it, one said it was because its lowered however my partner as had all his saxos lowered and never had any trouble/noises and the other thought it was the because the fuel filter is loose.
   
   I have taken out the spare wheel cage and its still making the noise
   
   If any one has any ideas on what it could be i would really appreciate it???

   check your ARB plates and bolts (the egg shaped plates on end of axle)

   Mine's similar atm, but I can only hear the metal-on-metal noise with my window down strangely. Just sounds like a dull knock from the inside of the car with the windows up. Suspect it's the ARB bolts too.

   Mine done this over speed bumps.. This turned out to be a callapsed rear axle, check for play in the wheels..
   
   When i had the new axle fitted it clunked/pinged when i turned left,.. I undone the anti roll bar end plates and greased behind them.. This worked

   Just curious since I know nothing really about cars
   
   I've just got my car home from work n to a garage n the break pad at the back was hanging off.
   
   Would this be something that would be making the clunking noise??

   Depends what kind of clunk it was making Mine made a noise as if stones were pinging up and hitting the exhaust. I had the rear beam replaced and this stopped the problem. As above though, check the ARB bolts, as I know it can sometimes be that simpe

   Ive found out that there's play in my rear beam n that's what's causing the noise.
