Magnex exhaust cracked?

  1. #1
    Hi all.
I have a full magnex decat system on my vts.
The weld just after the Mid Silences has cracked due to the pipe flexing up and down all the time. This is due to there not being any supports here when it is probably the heaviest part.
Has anybody else had this issue or know of any solutions?
I was going to try and make some sort of home made ehaust mounts but it means drilling through the floor which I dont really want to do.

The only hangers on saxo exhausts is the 2 on the back box then one a little bit further up and then thats it all the way to the manifold. Is this correct?

    Thanks

    James

Yup 2 at the backbox then 1 half way down the chassis then it bolts to the mani

I've never heard of an exhaust cracking due to lack of mounts, for ages my car didn't even have the middle rubber and was fine

    Cheers guys.
My MAgnex has been on for nearly 4 years so maybe its only ment to last that long.

When you get underneath tho there is loads of flex in the pipe where the joints are if you push it up and down with your hand so it is going to happen no matter what.

My magnex cracked where the pipe goes into the centre silencer, cost me £25 to have it cleaned up and welded at the local fabricators

Do the Magnex not have a centre mount then?

If not, get a bit of metal welded on so you can mount using a rubber.

My magnex seems solid as a rock at the centre point. Fitment is like this
    - Decat pipe bolts to manifold.
    - Centre section connected to decat pipe by olive clamp
    - Centre section held up by rubber mount.
    - Backbox connected to centre section by u clamp.
    - Backbox held up by 3 rubber mounts.

Seems absolutley fine like that, only complaint i have with the exhaust is the centre silencer is round and not oval, doesn't give as much ground clearance and occasionally it does catch because of this.

Already had it welded but there is a weakness there now so it has re cracked with time.

They have hangers at the backbox and then one hanger a bit further up and then no support untill the manifold. I gather that it is a centre hanger but its nowhere near enough the centre to take the weight properly.
