#7ahh yes use the original nut, but make sure its tight
-
#8ok then put the plastic bit and bumpstop and the plastic shocker cover before puttin the top together yeah? i didnt need to compress the spring is that rite?i dont want it to be rattly
-
#9how come you used the 5" helper on your set up llardy?
-
#10I've just fitted a set of these...
Dont mean to steal the thread, but is it reccomended to use helper springs with them? They are a tad loose when the cars jacked up.
And Kyle, you wont need to compress the sprigs you get with them as they're a bit lose anyways! LOL -
#11helper spring isn't a must but i wanted to be safe for the MOT. as you Jak the car up the spring comes loose and it can be classed as an MOT fail. so with the helpers it keeps the spring in place and will defo pass MOT
-
#12what size of helpers do you recomend ?and where from?
-
#13i wont be goin any lower than 60mm on mine anyway so wil it still be very loose or only when you lower alot lower?
-
#15how low are you on the front though?
-
#16about 80mm
-
#17Will I get to 60mm with helpers or will it not rattle at 60mm
-
#18yeah use that threaded thing to hold the damper in place. No harm in using the plastic cap and bumpstop, except you'll want to cut down the bump stop or itll bottom out all the time. Just chop like 2 or 3 notches of it. You dont need the rubber gaiter which covers damper as the springs are to small for them to fit i think.Quote:ok then put the plastic bit and bumpstop and the plastic shocker cover before puttin the top together yeah? i didnt need to compress the spring is that rite?i dont want it to be rattly
You dont need to compress coilover springs to put them on. Just make sure when you lower the jack that the spring sits correctly (which it should automatically)
its not necessary for helper springs. My springs are 1.5 inches shorter than the standard gaz springs and they dont come loose. After a while, even with the car jacked up they seem to stay put and dont come looseQuote:I've just fitted a set of these...

#19Cheers mate, that's reassuring. I haven't got to drive mine yet but it's not too far from it. Do they take a mile or so of driving before they sit at the right height like normal shocks and springs?

#21well they say new springs settle a bit after a few days, but not muchQuote:Cheers mate, that's reassuring. I haven't got to drive mine yet but it's not too far from it. Do they take a mile or so of driving before they sit at the right height like normal shocks and springs?
90mm at the front
-
#22wow thats very low lol, im only goin 60mm so ill give that a try first i wont be goin much lower than that, how does yours handle?
-
#23handles fine with normal day to day driving around town
60mm is a good height, dont really get any trouble with anything
ive had to do a bit of grinding, and some relocating to get the front sitting that low
