new cam and vernier pulley

   Recently got a piper cam and vernier pulley to go in the vtr, just a few questions before i fit it:
   
   if i put the original pulley on the new cam and match all my timing marks up - made before taking original cam out - will the timing be set as standard?
   
   is it possible to fit the new cam without having to do the head gasket at the same time?

   In response to your second question, the head is supposed to have to be removed, some people have jacked the engine up with the engine mount off and managed to slide the cam out clearing the wing, not sure on how easy that is but you can try it

   It is possible te can could have a different timing at TDC.
   Best get it set up properly, using lift at TDC.
