Seam to come across this every time i look in the tech sections
The 200mm clutch fitted to 1.6 TU engines changed towards the end of 2000 ... Thus the often encounted <2000 / 2000> part numbers when purchasing a new clutch
This can prove difficult for those running 1.6 converted cars that do not know what age vehicle their engine.. or even fitted clutch came from ( i say this as I myself have a 106 fitted with engine / clutch / gearbox from 3 different cars ... And engine loom made up from 3 cars lol )
So..whats the difference i hear you ask... Its how the clutch attaches to the flywheel
Early clutch ( pre end 2000)
The clutch is held to the flywheel with 6 bolts... Spaced in 3 pairs
Late clutch ( post end 2000)
The clutch is again held to the flywheel with 6 bolts.. But spaced equally around the flywheel
See below, top cover is the later clutch
Both are 200mm so outside diameter is the same, as can see the bolt spacing is clearly different
Below is a later flywheel..note equal bolt spacing around the edge
Below is an early flywheel.. Note bolts arranged in 3 pairs around the edge
For those needing a new clutch and still have the box in the car... It is possible to see the mounting bolts through the hole where the crank sensor mounts, so you should beable to see which clutch is fitted before striping down.
