Airbag underseat wiring...Help...(pic inside)

  1. #1
Iv read through peoples comments and advice on other similar threads but still having no luck.

Basically i got the car with buckets already fitted and Airbag light on. Did what people said on here and chopped the plugs off and tried the resistor method with no luck.

Can someone please explain to me from this picturewhich wires im bridging the resistors between etc and is the green wire to go to an earth??

I did use 1.8ohm resistors, im possibly thinking they are too low ohm?

Hope someone can shed some light as MOT is on Saturday and id rather not just take the bulb out or tape over it.

I think I got mine off eBay for 99p for 10. I think mine are 2.2 ohm I bent the ends of the resistor over put one leg into on of the hole the over in the over hole( the black plug which is left under the seat in your photo ) but before to do it unplug the battery for 10 mins or more. Put the resistors in under both seat then connect battery up the airbag light should come on when ignition is on then turn off like normal mine past it's Mot last month with them

Could just un plug the airbag ecu?

Well iv ordered 2.2ohm resistors last night so thats good news. So its just a resistor between the blue and brown wires? What about the green wire?

i used 3ohm resistors. However im not sure what to do in your case as every saxo ive had hasnt had the airbagged seats so only had the single orange wire.

Id still rather have use of the airbag's though so this isnt an option. Wouldnt the light still show though if you the airbag ecu?

    Mine has two orange wires.

I can't be of help though as I am in the same boat, I have the resistors but no idea which one to put them on lol.

Please post back if you figure it out!!

If unplug the airbag ecu then no light will show on the dash, which means an MOT fail as it has to come on then go off after 5secs.Right as for the resistors you`ve got an orange cable coming from the airbag ecu, this originally would`ve have had a plug on it & the plug would`ve faced you as you sat in the drivers seat.As the plug has been removed you`ll have to solder 1 leg each side of the resistor to 1 of the exposed wires each side of the orange cable coming from the floor. Then do the same for the passenger side as well.Hope this all makes sense lol.

Also if when you cut the plug of the seatbelt pretensioner cable you then tucked it under the carpet, well that cable won`t be doing anything now(if your running harnesess?)So will be loose so gently pull both the orange cables coming out from under the carpet 1 should just come away in your hands.

Maybe its better to understand with the aid of a couple of amazing MS paint pictures i just created.

    which is correct?

    Version 1

    Version 2

If those pics are for just 1 side of the car then both pics are wrong lol,if people made a note of what wires came from what before chomping the plugs off then it`d make life a lot easier.

As i said though the buckets were already fitted when i biught the car, so i would have no idea what wires/plugs went where.
Care to explain then where im going wrong in the pics?

On my saxo even when I'd correctly fitted the resistors under the seat the airbag light was still on. This was due to a break in the wire between the steering wheel and airbag ecu. This can be bypassed by putting a resistor in the plug under the steering wheel.
So you may have your under seat resistors fitted correct, there may be a break in the circuit elsewhere.
    Hope that helps.

Also my resistors were 2.2 ohm if that helps...

Cheers fella, i have a looksie at the steering wheel one too when my resistors arrive.

In that case i`m sorry mateDo you have the original steering wheel still fitted?

Im going to refit the original seats for the MOT, be easier than this I reckon lol

    Sorted now

Used 2.2ohm resistors the same way as picture 1 i earlier posted and it went straight off!
