Problem fitting R bumper to my flatarch

  1. #1
    Hey Guys,

I have had a R bumper sprayed up and fitted etc, but my mate who owns the garage has come across some problems when fitting it. I know the R bumper is wider than the original flatarch bumper as it has the arches from the vt kit normally.

The brackets are bigger on R one so this is the problem we have come across. Has anyone had any problems and if so how did you get it to fit properley?

The original brackets on the flatarch bumper are smaller, but it would be a bit of a ball ache taking them off and re moulding them to refit to the R bumper and maybe not as strong due to them being moved.

The problem is if we bend the bumper into place it will crease somewhere, unless we cut somewhere slightly to allow a bit of movement and the remould the place where we have cut. Or we may need to do some hacking :/

    Can anyone help please?

    Cheers

    Craig

You cant move the bumper in anymore mate.unless your going to bend the bumper in which will crease it. You cant push the bumper in anymore than how it looks in the above pictures

Yes you can. Just push it in and secure it however you see fit.

We used wood screws for mmy VT bumper

Oh right okay, because as you can see on the last picture the bracket cant go any further in as its solid and touching the inner part of the arch?

Sorry i just wanted to see how people fitted them as mines been at my mates garage whilst ive been in spain and he wanted to ask me before he did anything thats all.

Its not hitting the front inner arches, but the bracket of the front bumper is hitting the metal so you cant go through it so you cant push it anymore thats all. I just couldnt see how you could do it when i went to see the car thats all:/ Cheers mate, but it is dirty tbh as its been in the garage whilst i was on holiday.

He's knows why there is a gap there, I'm guessing he dosent want to fit the whole kit a lot of flat arch owners fit the bumper on its own, otherwise it'll look like any other blue vt, and the 5 door isnt his that is vipers old car

Yeah cheers Tom, they ended up using the other brackets and relocating them on the R one with a bit of cutting and lining up ands then some strong adhesive Pics will be up soon in my progress thread.
