How do I make my rear end hard as f*ck? :)

  1. #1
    Hey fellas.

Just mounted 9x16 on my sax. But the bitch keep scraping my rear arches, everytime i drive over the smallest bump. Is there any "cheap" way, I can make my rear suspension harder?

    Greetings

Replace your dampers with bars of steel. Cheap effective, but probably not recommended.

If you got a vtr and it scrapes your rear axle is fucked.....
  4. #4
I got a VTR, yes. Why is my rear axle fucked?

i'd say that depends on what wheels, what et they are, and how they are spaced.

my xsi scrapes when i really hammer it round some corners, standard height, mint axle, but i have 35mm spacers on. the op did say he had 9x16 wheels.

i had 15x8 wheels and yea mine were hitting badly, to the point i had to take my rear arches off and reattach them and remove my rear seats lol

    fit narrower wheels, job done.
  9. #9
    agreed

narrower wheels and lower profile tyres

failing that raise your back end or downsize to 15" wheels

Its more to do with how wide the wheels are, like I said even with my 15 inch wheels rubbed like hell because of how wide they were, every bump the plastic arch hit the top of the wheel

seen a few ppl cut through the petrol filler pipe as well lol

i had 18's on 35mm profile on mk 4 fiesta once and had to cut out the lip on the arc and use a 5mm spacer so they did not touch the damper or catch on the arch lip.

Use scafold poles for torsion bars... In all seriousness arb and thicker torsion bars...

I don't think he's asking for opinion. those size wheels aren't my cup of tea either, but its still up to the op what he puts on, its up to us to work through the issues and help him out.

so how many people fit 16'' so saxo's then? as common as 15s, but still up there,

yeah they are 9'' wide, but what are current styling trends dictating? stance, and the stance on 9x16 wheels would be pretty nice, personly think 9x15's would look better, but each to there own.

didn't see anyone moaning back in the days of body kits when people were fitting 17,18,19 and even 20'' wheels to saxo's and 106's

I doubt you were even around then to notice the people laughing at the 20"s on the front cover of LaxFlower.

and yes, I do remember that issue, was a ghastly red+cream pile of poo.
  35. #35
yeah but that was the 'scene' back then, people putting as big a set of wheels on as they could, were as these days its fitting wider wheels
