Bumped of a small curb - grinding noise from front nearside wheel

  1. #1
I went to pick a mate up recently and parked up facing a small curb on the left (didn't notice). As I drove of I went up the curb and bumped off the other side. There were no loud bangs or grinding noises or any mechanical sounds when it happened, but directly afterwards I could hear a grinding noise from the the front nearside wheel arch. The car has been recently lowered 40mm front and 50mm back during which I installed new drop links. From what I can see, the arch liner is in place, the drop link is fine, the shock and spring looks fine, as does the lower wishbone and arb, and I can see no rubbing marks anywhere. The grinding noise also kind of pulses on and off as opposed to be constant and changes with speed (although does seem to disappear after about 10mph).

Any ideas what it could be? Maybe brakes, carrier or (bloody hope not) wheel bearing or driveshaft?

Cheers in advance for any help

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me, jack the corner of the car up, then hold the wheel with both hands at opposite sides of the wheel, and when you shake the wheel if there is any play in it, then the wheel bearing is knackered

Sounds like wheel bearing but they make a droning noise when they go

Right :-/ cheers fellas. Will have a look tomorrow. I drove it round the block yesterday though and can't seem to make it happen again. Fingers crossed it's stopped but then makes me wonder what the fuck it was!
