Tuning saxo

  1. #1
Hi guys, ok how much do you think it would cost to tune up a saxo vtr 2001 plate ?? is it worth it? how BHP will it gain?

iv lowered the car by 40mm, got a K&N induction kit and a powerflow 4" exhaust system.

    cheers
what are these FSE power boost valves like?
  2. #2
FSE valves are a waste of time. they over-fuel your car.
  3. #3
With a full system and air filter you're looking at a maximum gain of 15bhp...

    (Or so I've been told)

you forgot to mention with a enclosed induction you will get gains but with these open to air ones your more likely to lose bhp as they drag in warm air from the engine, go for a 4-2-1 manifold enclosed induction and decat then maybe a cam and ecu remap this should sort things out for you mate looking at around 15-25bhp increase's maybe more depending on setup. this will probably set you back £1000-1500
  5. #5
hhmmm remap is coslty isnt it, where can i get a cheap green enclosed induction kit?
  6. #6
well get rid of the mods on your car and start again

enclosed induction kit bmc/ green will do nicely
piper or magnex exhaust or if your rich btb
    manifold 4-1 from gmc

to be honest i dont see the point going much further then that you will see more bhp per £ getting a vts conversion
  7. #7
this guy speaks sense worth plodding over it you could get a conversion done for less than these mods would cost you
  8. #8
    cool thanks
  9. #9
there was a guy in the wanted thread had a vts engine wanted £400 for it someone requested one and he mentioned he had this one ill try and dig out the thread for you

it sounded like top advice to me so i would say thats sense lol
  12. #12
well it is top advice i have the above mods on y car and thats as far as id go with a vtr but each to there own
  13. #13
You can tell the difference with the few mods, i could in Pauls car

ive never bothered with engine mods as, like stated to get to 120bhp it would cost alot, and i would be better selling the vtr and gettin a vts - which i am planning on doing
  14. #14
Yes but my vtr is on hire purchase

what if i get a green enclosed induction kit? will that help?
  15. #15
well if its on hire purchase surely you cant do anything to it
  16. #16
: Eh of course you can do stuff to it, at the end of the full payment its yours.
  17. #17
At the end of the day... you pay for what you get.

However, I do know a way of making around 100bhp by spending as much as £10. Interested?
  18. #18
errrrrrr is this an Ebay job ???

Haha! I think "some" people know what modification I'm talking about. Haha!

I have a 01 VTR with a Green, GMC Manifold, and Full Magnex system. I got 113bhp on a rr last wednesday.

Buying a VTS is your best option, then VTS conversion imo. Though selling the latter maybe harder. I say they're your best options as they're both better starting points for future mods. What i mean by that is if you cam a VTR engine to get 120-130bhp, it'l cost you more than to get a VTS engine conversion and there is not much more you can do to an 98bhp VTR without spending a few thousand (i.e. s/c, t/c etc). Whereas if you go for a VTS engine as a starting point, you'd have the option to cam that and get around 160bhp. Not that camming a VTS is cheap though lol.

I have a cam and modified head waiting to be fitted to mine but i cant justify the £800 id have to spend to get it fitted and get a remap atm.

Don't know much about Saxo's but very much doubt that, with a cone type filter you will probably loose/just about break even on power and the full system may get you 5bhp I'd say
