    what is the best cam and pully for my vtr? ive been told cat and kent are the best and to stay away from piper. is this correct?

    what basis do you have from staying away from piper? they are one of the top manufacturers of camshafts??

    Newmans are a good make, also cheaper than a few. Alot use the newman PH3 in the vtr, it depends what you want.

    Also this is in the wrong section mate, engine/performance is where it wants to be

    the newmans appear to be the most popular on here. As said the ph3 is a good mild cam, but you could always fit a rallye head and its cam depending which VTR you own

    strictly speaking it doesnt matter what vtr he has does it? the head wll bolt on to any 8v, the only trouble he mgiht have is if he has a 98bhp vtr engine so he wouldnt be able to use his oem inlet (this is what im guessing you getting at)

    but if i went to the trouble of fitting a rallye head and cam then id fit the inlet/ecu and loom at the same time

    True the head will bolt on to any 1.6 8v but then you have the hassle of getting it to run with a suitable inlet on the 3 plug loom or indeed modifying the rallye kit to work with the VTR body loom. Either way its going to be a bit of a pain

    Hence why I said use the rallye loom should all be plug and play with just the vtr multiplug spliced in, but yes you are right I'm just being picky lol

    I was looking into doing that as its a cheap way of getting a better map, but finding a rallye loom and ECU proved too difficult

    yea i can imagine, would be eaier to just buy a rallye and use it for bits but i would find that heart breaking to buy a rallye that hasnt been 16v'd and then strip it for bits lol
