Very quick tappet question

   Does the valve have to all the way down or all the way up, tried it all the way up with no joy :/

   Get a Haynes manual, it gives the procedure to do them in.

   I have got a haynes but i saw somewhere you do them compressed as in fully open valve. But all sorted now.
