mk1 to mk2 engine swap

    is it true that you cant put a 1.4 mk2 engine in a mk1 without it being a massive job?

    Depends on the age of the car some mk2's have a simple single plug engine which will go straight in to a mk1, if it has a cross over loom or a three plug loom then the new loom has to be spiced with the old loom to work, not a massive job IF you know what your doing but the majority of people won't know, its easier to just buy the right engine for your car!

    Only time id ever buy the wrong age engine would be if I owned a mk2 as older engines are more easily available

    its because i have a w reg and a y reg.. both mk2 but the w reg has a mk1 engine :/ its been done now
