Cutting out at biting point issue!

  1. #1
Hope someone can shed some light on this problem as im on the verge of giving up with the saxo and getting shut.

Basically it started out where every couple of weeks the saxo would randomly drop revs at biting point when setting off and if i didnt blip the throttle it would cut out. But it would only last for a while then drive fine again. But over the last week its been constant every drive where its trying to cut out at biting point, once set off it drives fine.

Iv cleaned all sensors etc and about the change the spark plugs and hopefully coil pack this weekend to see if that will help. But iv been thinking its possibly the fuel pump?? Because it seems to be worse when pointing downhill or on flat and its usually fine when facing and setting off uphill.

Anyone any ideas or had the same problem?

So, is this if you hold the revs at say, 2,000 then let the clutch up, it will die?

Just normal setting off trying to pull away fromlights etc the revs try to drop and it will cut out if i dont give it a blip of the throttle to bring them back up. I know its not just driver error(stalling) as its only just started doing it recently and iv had the car a few months now.

I see what you mean, but I need to know if it does it if you already have the revs up, at like 1,500/2,000?

Yes it does it from 1.5k ish. Just noticed theres a dodjy looking repaired wire to the alternator, going to re-repair it properly and see if that helps any.

I was going to say it seems like a loose connection, see if that wire helps

Try the above suggestions 1st if that doesn`t cure it then try a new fuel filter.

Normally if the filter was blocked, it would cause problems in higher rev ranges, but it's worth a go

Yeah I know what you`re saying mate, only other thing other than a fueling issue I can think of is the coil pack.
