Just recently got myself a sax vtr, looking to change engine for more power, something alog the lines of mi16 or gti6. Any handy tips/advise on these engines or possibly better engines, also whichgearbox and driveshafts to use. wiring guides etc etc.

    Cheers mark.

Why do you want to use one of those engines in particular?

Just what has already been advised. im open to other thoughts if you know of a better engine.

The VTS engine, lighter and alot cheaper and simpler to do with just the same effect.

If you have the budget to fit a GTI6 engine then fit a VTS engine and spend the remainder on servicing the VTS engine, any change left from that spend on modding it

How can the 1.6 vts engine be the same as the 2.0 mi16.
  6. #6
Is not but when tuned will offer similar performance and it wont be a total need custom fitment and control - it drops straight in

I agree. I mean yeah an mi16 engine is a stronger and more powerful engine, but you'd spend alot of money converting. You might aswell buy n banged out vts lump, and rebuild it to a decent spec.

See my plan is, and this may sound bonkers but im basically wanting an mi16 engine supercharged, i think this will be awesome fun for track days.

get a 205 if you are that desperate for a mi16/gti6

Stick a supercharged vts in it, It's one of those things that if you dont know exactly what you're doing you'll have to pay someone else to do it. For a non saxo engine you'll need custom shafts, custom mounts, custom loom, custom everything. If you can't fab that yourself you're looking in the region of a few grand just to get the engine in and running.
A vts conversion is drop in and plug & play

The £££££ you'd spend on getting the mi16 engine to fit/run you could spend on supercharging the VTS engine to a very high spec?
