Budgie?

  1. #1
I have a noise, mentioned to a mechanic he said it's known as a budgie.

It's like a light chirping noise, just not as prominent as a chirp, it's fainter/softer noticed it a couple of months ago but it was very quiet, it's ouder now though. The noise comes from the front o/s and it seems to only be audible when driving.

Obviously that said, it could be anything, so before you wise-asses comment some bullshit about that all I'm just looking to see if anyone else had a similar problem/know of common faults that make this noise?

    Ryan

Edit: Wrong section, woops, half asleep, please move if you read this.

    alt belt or
    cambelt tensioner

when was your cam belt last done

Well I bought it on 56k so I assume never? (No paperwork for it)

My alternator was done recently, new ALT + Belt, not sure about the pulley thing tho, but that's D/S and it sounds like O/S to moi.

Drivers side is off side, passenger side is near side

if it gets exesivly loud trying to take like a 3 pint turn its the alternator pulley like a screetching sound , but if not it will be most likaly be a dry wheel bearing :/

Chirping is generally a moving part like a tensioner wheel

Could be your clutch bearing, if it makes any louder/ quieter noises when you lift or drop the clutch pedal, then it's possibly that

But you should still be looking to get you cambelt done as a matter of importance
