my west coast 1.4 does about 250 miles to a tank off fuel its got a chipped ecu, and k&n induction kit, also had a complete service, lambda sensor and new exhaust so not leaking!!!!!

ANY IDEAS?????????? as its costing a bomb to run

Heat soak from the induction kit coupled with possibly a bad service from whoever re-chipped it.

im guessing heat soak means to much hot air going into the induction kit? sorry to sound thick as f**k

It does. you can get a heat shield for it or you can get a closed induction kit and will help get nice cold air to your engine Makes it more efficient.

Also when it was mapped, was this mapped at a proper decent company and not an online "chip"?

it was done by http://www.ukchiptuning.co.uk/ in 2011 just before i got the car i will have to see if i canmake up a tube so the induction kit sits at the front of the engine bay not at the back

slap an original airbox back on, probs better performance than crappy k&n cones!

Im getting the same problem, i put the car back to standard so all its got on now is the performance exhuast.

I have a 1.4 Furio and getting about 270miles per tank but i do all stop and start town driving so im started to think that is about right

Funny how the website you linked to doesn`t list both vtr variants(90bhp/98bhp)

could be fuel injection system fault, your air filter element is dirty or clogged, ignition timing off or system fault. or maybe your tyres are under inflated
  12. #12
thats the wedsite address its got stamped on the top of the ecu!! Im going to try and put the original air box back on and see what that does then if no go clean the fuel injectors

check that the air filter is not leaking..
Mine was over fueling something wicked last week, when I checked my cone filter had fallen off.. the intake pipe was compleatly open..

worth a quick look for leaks.

Stevo67 whats funny about they dont list a vtr???? iv not got a vtr iv got a 1.4 westcost and it is on there as they done it
  15. #15
    Chips are pointless.

All they do is trick the engine that the air going in is colder than it really is. Therefore throw's more fuel in.. Which the engine doesn't need / can't use.

What was the problem again? - oh shitty mpg? I wonder why .

What steve was getting at.. is that they just list the VTR as the same - when they're 2 different maps, but using them on both types..

so is it worth getting an unlocked ecu? not chipped
  17. #17
What do you think a unlocked ecu does?

fits to any saxom (im guessing)?? im not worried about performance as it my wifes car and ive got a scooby uk300 so speed dont matter
