Sticky Throttle on VTR

  1. #1
Ive got an 02 plate vtr and its been running good but today when i parked up it decided to rev upto 3000rpm and keep it that... popped the bonnet and the throttle is back when it should be...

Im geussing its a dirty throttle body? just wanted to check before i stripped it all down!

also the previous owner has decided to put the worst induction kit on ive ever seen it goes... throttle body, MAf sensor then cone filter... no hoses etc... assuming it shouldnt cause the revs to stick but cant see it doing much good for engine with heat soak etc!!

Get a pic.. It shouldn't be there lol

Map and idle valve have their own place on the inlet

Probs just a knackered cable, spray wd40 into it

If that doesn't work it could be a manky TB, as they do get full of crap

ive maybe just not looked at it properly, just seen a huge cone sitting right beside throttle body haha pretty sure i seen a cable connected beside it but its been one of them days

the cables returning fine if i rev it up from under bonnet it returns normally but revs keep up and even increase...

il strip the TB and see whats going on, its done 80k miles so prob in need of a damn good clean... my Astra G 1.8 16v's was rank at 100k miles so dont think this will be much diff

il have to get myself som carb cleaner tmw! another job to the list!

cheers for info... any suggestions on what diagnostics kit / software to use with it? i use OPCOM on my Astra off my laptop, not a great fan of handheld scanners but thats just what im used to
