De-Wiper fail, need help

  1. #1
Managed to hacksaw the wiper off, however the rubber ring and the bolt are still there, I'll let the pictures do the talking, need two questions answered really.

    1) Can anything be done to remove the scratches on the windscreen, (Rubbed the hacksaw against the rear window)

    2) What needs to be done now, remove the whole bolt? Do I need to buy grommets from halfords, just generally what needs to be done to tidy up the de-wiper.

    heres the pics.

all you had to do is undo all the bolts on the inside and the wiper blade pops off and it all falls out? dont know why you cut it all!
  5. #5
I was under the impression you hacksaw it off, anyway, what needs to be done? Remove the bolt and get a new grommet?

this is the 2nd time iv seen this now. someone did this last year and made a bigger mess than you, sawed threw part of the boot several times.

what gets me though is why do it? its easy enough to remove the wiper without the use of a saw.theres a guide on here too (some-ones linked). as said dont go near the car again, get someone who knows what there doing to do it for you. or if you want to finish the job try hammering the bit thats left threw the glass - not being serious there btw

good luck though removing it and i dont think theres much you can do with the glass. call auto glass maybe see if they can do anything lol, or search google

Get some fine sand paper and rub the glass down where its scratched, MOP it with G3.

Seen it done but took ages

thats actually a good point depending how deep the scratches are.
one of my headlights had a few scratches on and i used wet/dry 1000grit form halfords and it got rid of the scratches. didnt use anything after that to give it a shine though
  13. #13
It does work, just be patient
  14. #14
Ill probs hammer it through or just undo the bolts from the back, cheers.

Whaaaaaaaaaaat! It's realy easy to get that out why would you hack at it !!!
  19. #19
I dont know!!! I had the thought it my head you had to hacksaw them off Ill get it sorted, dw
  20. #20
I don't get de-wipering, I mean it looks good. But what about when your doing 70mph and it's pissing down with rain? how do you check what's behind you lol apart from your wing mirrors.

And you made a mess of that!
  21. #21
Heres an idea buy a boot lid same colour thats already been dewipered then fit it.
  22. #22
If you just smash the window mate its easier to remove.

When you do anything over 40, the rain actually clears from the window, I thought the same as you until my wiper started to suck and I ended up removing it. + you can just buy rain repellant. =)
  24. #24
Im pissed off I fucked it up now, looks like shit, how easy is it to remove the wiper motor and everything else
  25. #25
Its a few bolts. So very, just dont pull it too hard, you'll smash the rear window.
  26. #26
In a shit mood today the fact that it looks like that has wound me up even more. ¬_¬

If you are not sure how to do something ask, that guide that someone showed you is easy to follow! You made yourself look like a tit because you decided to go at it without knowing what your doing... :/ I understand that some work you do to your car is hard, But c'mon dude...

People have told you what needs doing to make it look better, Fix it up. As for the glass, those look rather deep, Can you feel it when you run your finger nail along the scratches? If so will be very hard getting them out. Might need a new window...
  30. #30
shiiiitttt iv just noticed the paint below the glass too
mate to be fair if your so bothered about the scratches on the glass then what about the paint you have sawn threw on the boot?
best bet for you if them marks are doing you head in get a boot already de-wipered or get one with a wiper and not bother touching it. it looks one hell of a mess.

if i where you then id get the rest of the motor out and grommet the hole. (theres a grommet the perfect size on your boot floor) oh but dont drill or saw it out then just save up for a new boot and try again but without a saw
  31. #31
They aren't deep at all, can't feel them when I run my finger through them, probably try wet and dry to remove the scratches or just buy a new bootlid, cheers boys

One bit of advice though, on a serious note:

    Google is your friend

    Not sure, just ask.
  33. #33
Mate people did tell you not to hacksaw it off in your last thread :/ you have no-one to blame but yourself really man, you can probably sort them hacksaw wounds out some how though dw

Omfg this cracked me up, you've half hacksawed your window LMAO.

Dewipering is piss-easy, there's a guide here. I've never done a mechanical thing in my life and it took me all of 10 mins to de-wiper my car lol, without a hacksaw.

    Thanks for the lols.

Ive always found the best method of dewipering was to put a firework onto the parcel shelf and light it, you have to get someone to hold it though or it might burn your seats, also cuts holes for your parcel shelf 6x9s but you may need a couple to do that or a big rocket results vary depending on the lighter used
