Weird noise when braking

Whilst braking from hard speed my car makes a weird noise when it reaches 30 the noise you'd hear if you crossed the cat eyes on the motorway etc.. it stops is you depress the brake pedal so I'm assuming it's the brakes overheating? I know for sure they need a change.

The rear discs are fine so I'm thinking of the following.

Standard rear pads

Would these items be a good investment, I can't afford to do a big brake coversion and even though my brakes are badly worn they still stop me a lot sharper than I need.

hi mate could b ur pads hav seen better days and ur brakin metal on metal! if not try a bit of copper grease on ur brakes shud sort it!

i wud go for black diamond discs and pads! for the price they r they do me wonders for my front brakes travellin at high speeds and havin to stop suddenly! as i was right in front of a fatal car carsh on the A14 near cambridge.

Deffo not down to the metal yet had the wheels off a couple of weeks ago and went over the brakes then, but not a lot of meat left on them.

from the price i know they were 100 quid disc and pads. but mayb cheaper

the knocking could be a warped disc mate, therefore its only contacting certain parts of the brake disc.

yea fronts only but rears will probs b lil bit cheaper just do a search and find a price
