Important! : mot retest tomorrow, unsure about welding

  1. #1
got my mot retest in the morning, fail because of a little bit of rust on the chassis rail. it has been patched, but wasnt brilliant, so slapped some good old underseal on it i heard if the fix has been covered with underseal they have to pass and advise? but i also heard that they fail and ask the underseal to be removed?

    whats everyones views on this??

They might want to see the fix has been done? if the underseal was on before the test they wouldn't have seen it and wouldn't have failed it, i think?

didnt have the underseal on before, i undersealed over the patch i had welded on, but unsure what the tester might think to it

If you have had the welding done it should be fine.

It doesn't have to look pretty, just as long as it has been welded to a reasonable standard, it's wise to underseal over the bare metal anyway so that won't matter, as long as its solid there now when the tester looks at it.

it passed he didnt even poke it to check its solid or anything :O

Your lucky day mate, before every MOT with the saxo it gets cleaned up underneath etc then caked in underseal.

    hahah best way to be

they couldnt do the emmisions test because it boiled over last week during the mot (typical of mine tbh), but it had the retest today as it needed a few bits and pieces along with the welding, and he was ment to do the emmisions today and forgot
