Looking to upgrade my audio.
When i have the volume turned up the inside of the door vibrates and it sounds crap. Are those sound proofing mats any good? They fit behind or around the speaker (i think) and limit the vibrations. Anyother way i can stop this?

Also, whats more recomended, Alpine or Kenwood?
I like Kenwood so far but i'm willing to admit i know jack shit and would appreciate advice.

Last question, do the grills over the speakers, front and rear clip off, and where abouts are the clips? I've had a look but i'm bothered about breaking something trying to force them off.

for the speakers in the rear, u will have to take the whole door card off. as the grill doesnt come off. to do this u have to take the window seal off aswell. not that hard a job, but can be tricky. i've got kenwood at the moment, there not too bad, i'd say go for alpine, as the sound quality will be better. hope this helps as a start.

So the front grills just clip out with a bit of force?
I'll take a look at the back over the weekend when i've got some more time.

Go for a nice set of alpine components up front front grilles come off pretty easily took me over an hour to do the rear mate

Ok. Yeah, grills come of nice to reveal 13cm speakers.
Next problem - Looks like rivets holding them in. How on earth do i release them and then replace them?

Problem 2 - The door sounds like a tin can with copper coins rattling about inside. Is there anyway i can stop this? OR will upgrading the speakers cut this down?

problem 1 : These are pop rivets and the only way to release them is to drill them out, use a small drill bit just bigger then the hole in the middle of the rivet and drill straight throught it, if it does release use a slightly smaller drill bit until it releases

Problem 2 : Changing speakers will probably not stop this rattling, have you checked all clips in the door card are engaged, also use some dynamat around the front speakers to try and reduce vibrations throught the door

Here is a little tip, if your replace the front speakers, make MDF rings and srew your seakers onto them.

The sound will improve a lot.

The dynamat will defenitly work. Stick the Dynamat over the speakerhole and cut the opening out. Then srew the MDF rings on the original fittings and then srew the speaker onto the rings

Sound improvement garanteed
