after talking about upgrading my vts brakes up to grooved and drilled discs etc.
i was told to think about a brake upgrade.

basically i just want to find out what ones are available and what i actually need to do the conversion i don't want to get half way and then find out i need this and that extra as i want to calculate the cost etc.

i am looking to track in the future but for at least a year just road use till its fully built etc.

please include in your answer approved % approx and what you fully need to do. also I'm going to be running 15inch wheels (atm vts wheels)

all help is very much appriceated

266 calipers from any number of peugeots
    Good fluid
    Good quality plain disks
    Decent uprated pads
    Custom length braided lines <removed>

Only got a little bit of knowledge but will share anyway

266mm is biggest you can go without changing the master cylinder. Will fit under 14" wheels. From 306/berlingo

Not sure what from but 283mm will require a new mc and will fit under 15" wheels

I would agree, I had 266mm callipers and carriers from Mikol.

Mine were running on standard mintex pads and discs with rubber hoses.

Even without braided lines and "uprated" pads they would still try and snap your neck! A good example was driving through MK on the 247s I could 2 or 3 roundabouts before getting fade, when I swapped them, I was doing nearly 15 roundabouts before I noticed any fade, and even when I did they would cool down quite well.

Ive got a set off wilwood calipers midilite calipers on front brakes with braided flexis under a set of 15" pro race 1.2 wheels. Used yellow stuff with groved and drilled discs and now using mintex 1144 pads and solid discs. Done donny and nurburgring without any fade. They are brilliant brakes but not the cheapest. I havent changed my master cylinder to a bigger one but theres bin no probs with the standard one

tbh i hated the brakes in my vtr they were stupid lethal!
i haven't really drove on my vts brakes and when i did for a very short second they are shot anyway lol but I'm just looking at upgrading in the process of replacing to save money.. i don't want to spend stupid money if unnecessary so its that more than anything... "is it cost effective"

Think my 266mm calipers and brand new brembo discs set me back 80-90 quid. Quick lick of paint and some £20 mintex pads and had a fresh and upgraded set

    Thanks for the recommendation

My discs and pads needed changing so i thought why not upgrade, came across some 266mm on ebay with new standard discs and pads for £45 so i just had to have them.
The difference is amazing, although i had to press them fairly sharply the other day and i blew out the brake line, so i think defo get some braided lines.

I ran 266mm from a berlingo with oem pagid discs and pads.

Ran them on track without issues tbh - untill the bug caught hard then i went for 4pots
more than ample for the novice trackday goer.

the best upgrade is usally good discs and pads for the standard brakes but this is usually the most expensive option aas when i talk about decpnt pads i mean £150-200 per set

266 is popular as they are good and dotn weigh a tonne like the gti6 brakes, i have gti6 brakes but i dont care about the weight of the them, i bought calipers(already been ground to fit saxo strut), oem pads and maxtorq grp n discs witha liter of dot 5.1, running them with oem hoses

if budget is not an issue then you can get STUPIDLY light 4/6 pot brakes as tom said
