brought and induction kit help please ? ( got the pic working now )

    right so this is not my engine but is the dead same, I was wondering how do I fit my induction kit and filter, what happens to the bit wear the arrow is pointing at what does it connect to once a air filter? induction kit is fitted? what does it connect to then?

    as you can probably tell im not the most mechanically minded :L LOL

    I would say its for cold mornings to warn the engine up quicker? Looks like its drawing warm air from the manifold. If its anything like a normal induction kit then cold air is king. Whip it off and replace with your new kit and if she runs alright forget it was ever there. Just be wary to let your engine warm up before blasting down the road on cold mornings. I am most likely wrong so I would wait for a second opinion though.

    No exhaust gasses will be passed through it, its just directing the hot air from the manifold to your air box, thus speeding up your engine getting to operating temperature. You may notice the temp gauge reads lower or takes longer to rise mines below half way almost always but I've only had the car a week and mine doesn't have this pipe at all. The last citroen I owned was a few years ago so I'm re-learning a lot of things. I would guess yes it would be fine to remove. But if you chose to wait for someone else to confirm it I wouldn't blame you. What engine is it? The VTR?

    no mate, its only a 1.1 east coast borrowed this pic of google but its deffo the same engine mate just wondered what it was and whether it would help/hinder performance

    No, as I say cold air is king. Air when cold is more dense so as the engine sucks its getting a lot more than if it is warm. Just be careful when removing the cold air feed ( black plastic pipe that goes to the grill on the front of your car ) as an air filter alone will just suck all the hot air from your engine bay. Ideally you want a bigger filter/cone yes, but for more performance you want it to have a nice supply of cold air coming in too. Otherwise on hot days or when the engine is hot you'll find it will become mighty sluggish. Another method would be to get a nice panel filter for you stock airbox and drill loads of holes to help it breath more freely and keep the standard cold air feed etc. Its old school but it works with a pleasing induction roar hope this helps.     If you are thinking about drilling though, DON'T drill the top where you change the filter, else it will suck all kinds of crap into it as it's effectively been bypassed. On a ford which is what I also own it is necessary to reset the ECU afterwards so it could learn new the fuelling parameters of your new setup, on a citroen though I don't know if it's essential.

    ok mate, i may mount it behind the fan do you think that would supply sufficient cold air if i mounted it where the original black piping at the front would sit ?

    With no air feed, yes I would guess that would be the ideal place, as far away from anything that gets hot lol.

Note that this chap has a breather filter aswell, when you disasemble all your current air box etc. My guess is you'll need one of these too. If you notice the picture you posted the pipe is connected to the airbox, a small pipe connecting the rocker cover to the air box, above the red arrow you drew. You might have one with your kit, you might not. But I don't think this is something that you can just get rid of. They're cheap enough from Halfords but probably cheaper on Ebay, if you can hold off for the delivery

    yeah, are they the smaller type of filter they look basically like a mini k&n filter ? without sounding ridiculous
