saxo vtr phase 2 strange noise!

   My vtr phase 2 has a strange noise coming from engine bay when i rev between 1000 rpm and 1500 rpm and i got told it might be the alternator so i changed that but still does it. Had a good listen the other day and it sounds like it is coming from under the kam belt cover but what could it be?????????

   If its a squeeking sound then it's more than likely a worn tensioner or pulley some one correct me if I'm wrong

   As above, if its under the cam belt cover it could be a tensioner.
   Take the cam belt cover off and you should be able to locate it a bit better.

   ok i will take the cover off when i can and how much is a new tensioner if it is that?

   the tensioner isnt much, but i would replace the cam belt at the same time.
   If you've not done one before, set aside a good couple of hours so you get it right and i think theres a guide on here somewhere.
