Gearbox trouble!!!

   Iv got a problem with my vtr On the way home last night, gearbox started to get very hard to put into gear. The clutch is fine, but on inspecting under the bonnet, i have quite a bad oil leak from the gearbox. Also the engine managment light came on shortly after. Iv noticed that while driving the car sounds as if it has a turbo whine. Any ideas? thanks

   Sounds like the gearbox is running dry of oil.
   
   When I did my engine swap.. I thought I'd put enough oil in.. Few hour's later It developed a whine - Filled it up properly.. and it's been fine so far. Still have the whine - must of damaged the diff slightly.. but still works.
   
   So yeah, Park on level ground, take passenger wheel off - there's a square plug in the box.. unscrew that - if oil comes out - there's enough in, if not - needs more in.

   Thanks lad, could that be why the engine manegment light is on?

   Low gearbox oil wouldn't illuminate your management light.

   OH FCK!!! well i drove it 70 odd mile with the light on and there was no problem with the car, just the box.

    Thanks all, its sorted now, 10 euros down at citroen. And the eml was the lambda sensors all done.
