VTR suddenly running hot

  1. #1
About 4 months ago I replaced my water pump and also cambelt , since then no problems whatsoever.. Yet today it's suddenly running really hot.

I think it's fair to say everyone knows their own car well enough to know when it's being different to normal.. And it's happened in the past with my old saxo but it turned out to be big problems.

I have driven it on the motorway a few times this week for long journeys but this doesn't usually affect it..

Any ideas what it could be?

It's only because it's happened so suddenly that I'm thinking outside the box from the usual thermostat, airlock, radiator, water pump, ecu, temperature sensor, fan switch list!

    Thanks

Ps- its 99% not a head gasket problem there is no oil in the water water in the oil or white smoke...

Do you think a sensor would give you a week's notice?

I'd flush / bleed all water just for peace of mind.

If it still run's hot - try the temp sensor.

If it still does it - panic lol.

Doesnt have to be, if exhaust gases are busting through into the water chamber it will run hot.

Ive had 2 thats done it.

Not always that milky substance you associate with headgasket

It could just be a faulty sensor for the temperature gauge mate.
