Driveshaft question

    I have a noise on idle and on decelerating every now and then which sounds like the driveshaft jumping up and down sort of. It isn't every time I go for a drive, but every time I stop there's a small amount of gearbox oil. I replaced passenger side seal last week but looks like must be drivers side. Could this be because I don't have a driveshaft carrier on? Thanks
